Campese  bay

A stopover with plenty of home comforts

Giglio Campese: this stunning bay is sheltered from the south winds, and located on the western coast, near the island’s largest and most popular sandy beach. The beautiful bay of Campese has on one side the famous rocky spur known as “il faraglione”, and on the other side, the Torre Medicea, a tower built in the 18th century by Cosimo I de' Medici. The tower was originally separate from the bay, and used to defend the islanders from frequent pirate incursions. It’s worth dining at one of the local restaurants to sample some great food and the famous local wine, l’Ansonica. Drop anchor on the seabed of 10-15 m, trying to stay as close to the shore as possible, given that the depth increases rapidly.
